Helpful Information!

Have you ever seen a paver patio that had weeds or moss growing in the joints? How about areas with a lot of ant hills following the paver joints? Or entire sections of a paver area that had no sand in the joints whatsoever - because it had all washed out?

What is Polymeric Sand?

Poly sand is a high-tech mix of a properly graded sand and a binder compound that is specially formulated for filling the joints of pavers and slabs. It is a sand that hardens once it is activated and has dried and yet remains flexible when it is wet. This flexibility is necessary in regions where the ground freezes and thaws repeatedly.

Benefits of Poly Sand

  • Poly sand stays in the paver joints and resists erosion.
  • It prevents weeds from growing in the joints.
  • It prevents ants hills.
  • It is flexible when it's wet and is able to move with the pavers.
  • It works in all paver applications and can be used in those natural stone applications with a joint width of up to 4" wide.
  • Once it has fully cured, it can be power washed - carefully.
  • Polymeric sand meets the ICPI industry standards.

Why should I use sealer?

Protecting your investment should be your top priority. The patio is put in to complement your outdoor landscape and should be kept looking as good as the day it is installed. Sealer achieves this. Cleaning and sealing pavers will also prolong the life of concrete surfaces, by protecting them from harmful rays, and providing an excellent repellent for water, almost like wax on a car. Sealing needs to be performed every 2-3 years to achieve the same look and protection. Some Factors that impact the life of your sealer are:

  • Sealer Type - Commercial grade sealer will last longer
  • Proper Application - Thorough surface prep and washing beforehand
  • Climate - An increased exposure to sun and water will decrease the lifespan
  • Traffic - Excessive traffic can decrease the lifespan
  • Maintenance - Proper maintenance and touch up will increase the lifespan

When selecting your sealer you can chose from, natural look, wet look, or semi-wet look. Wet look will bring out the full color of your pavers 24-7!
